   1)There are a few strong independent thoughts from club playerS that I think they should be heard more instead of having them ignored.
   All club players know that we are getting fucked over for what we are doing, we pay for our own transportation, our equipment, physiotherapists etc... I recently found out that there was some sponsored money involved with Greek rugby. Here is what we got in 2005

   Ήδη τους έχουν καταβληθεί οι δύο πρώτες δόσεις, συνολικού ύψους 23.576.000 ευρώ. Με άλλη απόφαση, που υπέγραψε ο Υφυπουργός Πολιτισμού, καταβάλλεται άμεσα η τρίτη δόση της τακτικής επιχορήγησης, συνολικού ύψους 11.149.000 ευρώ. Με το ποσό αυτό, οι Ομοσπονδίες θα έχουν λάβει το 60% της δικαιούμενης επιχορήγησης.

   Ok so Athens are facing Rhodes in the finals, Wouldn't you want to see those teams play at the peek of their season and not 2 months later, obviously Athens use the National team as an excuse to delay the final so they could maybe avoid getting slaughtered.

   What ever Happened to having 2 legs of 7's? Not only that but you are doing it on may 8th which was not even close to last years dates. Having 1 tournament instead of 2 means there is something going wrong and dont use the excuse that you dont have money because you collected enough over the past 5 years!

   If you anyhow feel uncomfortable with what i just said you could really go fuck yourself!

   2) Im going to give you an example, im going to describe what an average Greek rugby player gives to play rugby in Greece and what he gets in return.

   - Costs (Everything below may not be accurate but it is an estimate of how much has been spent annually):
   -400hours of practice
   -Transportation fees for practice (Bus Car etc)120euro
   -Annual Club fees 150euro
   -Transportation Fees of a game OUT OF CITY(an average of 2-3 games a season)300euro
   -Out of town tours 200-400euro
   -7's preparation and transportation fees 110euro
   *THIS IS A ROUGHLY ESTIMATED AND MAY NOT BE ACCURATE
   ANNUAL COSTS 1000EURO

   IN RETURN
   - A maximum of 7 games a season ( Israel Portugal and Spain have 15-30 games a season)

   I would recomend three things:

   1. Get your facys correct, go to the Union and ask where the money is going and how much each club has been helped especialu the one outside of the Athens area.
   2. Get your club more organised.
   3. Do not feel bad if other clubs are more organised like yours and manage all the above financial issues. Which i understand that they are very fiffecult to handle.

   Do you actually think that if i show up to the union, they will really tell me where the money went?

   We have been getting robbed for the past 5 years

   AND IF UR JUST A PLAYER FROM ANOTHER CLUB AND THINK THAT ORGANIZATION IS THE PROBLEM HERE, WAIT UNTIL WE SEE EACH OTHER IN A GAME, ILL REALLY SHOW U HOW I FEEL ABOUT GREEK RUGBY!

   Guys, even though I do not want to be part of this conversation, I have to say the following:

   1. We should all try to keep the 'dream' of rugby alive in Greece (Especially since we are here due to our love for the game and our clubs) through our active involvement.

   2. There is no point in arguing like this. The only way of doing it, is to try to stick together, work with the Union (they are the only ones we have and we cannot change it) and not argue like this. 'The non corrupted of Greece' I am sure you love the sport and your club (which one?) as Kaktos. We have to find the way to 'co exist' and ACT, because presenting the facts like this, is not going to change anything.

   3. Invest in the academies - future. We were the first ones to have an academy (Spartans), but the lack of funding and proper initiatives from the Union is going to ruin everything that we created with hard work.

   I hope that we will meet each other during the Sevens tournament (still we do not know where and when it is going to take place) and we can have a meeting in order to discuss!

   oohh yes..and when as club we asked for some money support they told us that they dont have cause the goverment did not give them any....and where are all the other money from the other past years mr STAMOS????.....since that the only thing that u have pay for is the bottle of the water for the national team when we have practice..ha ha ..dont forget to say that in one practice we were 30 people and we had only 12 bottle of water!!!!!..and when i asked for water they told us .."what!!...u came here with out your own bottle!!....so where are the money mr president???????????????????????????????....also to say that in the last greek 7s tournament u did not show up at all..and there was no trophy for the second and the third place!!!!...omg!!...if u want to be called gr federation u have to show us some actions and not only words.....and show us some money mr STAMOS!!!!..DON keep them all for your shelf and the other around u!!!!!!!!!!!!...XEFTILES!!!!!

    What you have to realise is that the federation has no knowledge of rugby and is being run by people who want the money and talk as if they are doing something constructive.

    We hired an Irish coach, who played professionally and was committed to Greek rugby. But was forced to resign after winning his only two matches in charge after saying no to the federation in matters of team selection.

    then they hired a Greek/South African coach, who won 3/4 matches with an impressive win over Bulgaria and he was sacked because the 7s team didn’t do well. He only had a small amount of time to work with the squad and that was mainly selected by the federation.

    Then they hired Olivier Magne, who didn’t give a shit about the Greek team (except his pay packet) and they lost to Bulgaria a team that we smashed and lost heavily away to Israel. Because the team that was selected and approved by the federation wasn’t up to scratch.

    Is anyone seeing a pattern here... when the federation leave it to the experienced people rugby thrives and does well, when they get involved it becomes polluted and crumbles.

    Apparently their is a guy called Costas who is the director of rugby development, what does he actually do as I don’t seem to see anything developing positively... at the end of last season, the squad has 3 players from South Africa, 1 from the UK and 2 from France who all played their part in helping Greece to a successful season and they were all dropped for the matches (apart from bringing one back a the last minute).

    What kind of federation breaks us a winning squad and coach. they don’t have a clue.

    I hope they are enjoying their little power as it will be short lived and they will get their punishment.

    Hes right, enjoy it while you can Costas Tsampaos and John Stamos, as the greek saying goes, " Oi Malakies epistrefontai".

    Investing money into paying olivier magne as coach isnt a bad idea but, you gota look at a long term investment, 7 Practices is not going to be useful next season, 7000 euro could have been used to be distributed to the clubs for training equipment etc. For all that we know, we just blew 7000 euro for nothing, instead of helping the three new clubs that are being created.

    As a person who has played for the Greek national team for the last three years its quite sad to read this thread. Whilst I don't agree with what you are saying, I don’t think this is the right time or place to vent your frustrations.

    The Greek economy is broke and spending will be cut as much as possible in all areas. I can't imagine rugby being on the sports mentioned above that is exempt from this, so in the mean time until the economy has recovered and funding has recovered/improved. I suggest that you keep this to verbal discussions.

    At the end of the day, if we loose the funding then there won’t be any rugby in Greece!

    Also, funding the national team can’t be that cheap. 4 matches a year and flights for all the players at say 300euro a flight, and for a team of 21, with the staff. So 30 passengers @ 300 euro a pop and for two away matches a season that comes to 18,000 just for flights, then you need accommodation and meals and internal travel. It all adds up. Plus the accommodation when there is training camps and the costs to hold the FIRA Rugby Sevens.

    So whilst I agree that 650,000 euro is a lot of money to have, I’m sure quite a considerable chunk of it will have been spent on the national team. This might not be fair, and I’m sure it would be better if we stopped hosting the FIRA Rugby sevens and invested that money into the domestic league, but in the mean time please keep discussions from praying public eyes.

    Anyway, I’m appalled at the amount we actually do get compared to some other sports. Soft Ball, Hockey, Golf, Bridge, Billiards, Ice Skating, Base Ball. RIDICULOUS

    p.s. unlucky with the last two results lads, I'm sure you'll get promoted in the next campaign.

Im sorry im saying this but the national team will never win and never get promoted as long as this is going on. The reason why the national team isn't winning isn't because of the coaching nor the players, its the roots of Greek rugby. The clubs and the youth, thats where the real money should be invested.

    Every time i see a picture of that ugly fat fuck hes smoking a cigarette, i bet you thats where all the 800,000 euro went.

    I say who ever is in charge should quit. Let someone else take in charge, you have raped our rugby union enough. Its time to get the fuck out of this and never come back.     SO Athens Owls won again, after delaying the game a month and playing it in rhodes, hmmm seems kinda sketchy. The reason why they delayed the game is because they knew the where going to get slaughtered if they played rhodes at their peek, and the reason why they did it in rhodes well is because they probably tried to pull of some crazy cheap trick so that no one from athens could see, another guess? was George Kaloxilos reffing? another athens ex-player reffing the finals of the hellenic rugby league, hes reefing his own team i think chances are he was a little more carefull with his ex-teamates. cock sucking owls
